The Teen Brain, Influences on Memory

This interactive workshop uses the natural learning systems of the adolescent brain that are involved in creating a lasting and retrievable memory. We explain how the brain is influenced by internal processing and the external environment, including their peers, home and cultural influences. Throughout the workshop we present and develop a host of realistic strategies that staff can use immediately to produce real changes.

How The Student Brain Learns: Strategies for all levels

A more general workshop designed for the entire school system k-12, including aides and support staff that develop practical applications. In this interactive workshop staff experience how the brain learns, identify adjustments they can readily make with existing instructional strategies and how to use those strategies more effectively. We always model the learning principles so staff can clearly see and experience what it looks like. The message is centered on practical implementation at all levels as demonstrated through the latest neuroscience research and classroom testing.

Emotion, Attention, & ADD: Strategies to Improve Learning

Emotions, Attention are the two most influential processes in building long-term memory and are inseparable from learning. We explore how to implement instructional strategies that can appropriately harness emotions and attention to create powerful learning and co-incidentally also work with ADD students. This interactive workshop uses a dramatic live demonstration of a neurofeedback intervention strategy for ADD students that can produce lasting gains from 10-15 years. You can actually watch whether the brain is paying attention or not.
